When it comes to drinking, over the holidays and throughout the year, there’s always an opportunity to drink. Most of us will like a drink but some can often take it too far. There’s generations now that are drinking to get drunk, rather than to have a good, sociable night. Here are some tips to achieving a healthier attitude towards alcohol.
Ratio Of Water To Alcohol
Hangovers aren’t fun to have and so it’s good to be able to reduce how severe these are and if not, remove them completely. As a hangover is caused by dehydration, it’s good to perhaps thinking about the ratio of water to alcohol. A lot of people who drink won’t even bother to drink water in between drinks and especially when they finally get home.
If you matched every drink you had with a pint of water, the chances of you having a bad hangover will be much less because your body will be catered by the hydration you’re supplying it through the water.
It can be difficult to drink water to that amount though as that’s a lot of fluid. So try where you can by drinking more water over the course of the evening and have a bottle of water next to you before going to bed.
Be Wary Around Those Who Drink Heavily
We’re often influenced by those around us and drinking in social environments can often involve peer pressure. It’s important that as adults, we don’t fall for this type of peer pressure of drinking when we might not want to drink so much.
There may be certain colleagues or friends that like to drink heavily and you may sometimes feel like you need to keep up with them. But that’s not the case and if someone is making you feel like you need to drink more, then they may not have your best interests at heart.
Give Yourself A Limit
A limit is a good way to keep track of your drinking and to make sure that you know your limit. Give yourself a limit and if you’re planning a pub crawl for example, look on nearestbrewery.com to find where you start and where you’ll finish so that you can know where the limit is before you start drinking. Drinking past your limit will likely make you feel a lot worse.
Have Better WillPower
Sometimes it’s good to have breaks from drinking alcohol, especially if your lifestyle is quite renowned for being drink-orientated. So have some willpower when you want to curb your drinking for a little while or at least cut back on the amount you’re drinking now. We all have the ability to have strong willpower, it’s good to test this as often as you can.
Achieving a healthier attitude towards alcohol is important, especially as you get older. Use these tips to have a more conscious mindset going forward and to improve your relationship with alcohol and how often you consume it on a weekly basis.
