Where to next for your UK holiday?
While you could book a stay in of our countries famous cities, such as York, London, or Liverpool, it might be that you decide on a destination by the sea instead.
A stay in a bed and breakfast or a coastal cottage in areas such as Cornwall, Devon, or North Wales, with the seaside nearby, will bring you all kinds of benefits.
These are just a few of them.
You will get to breathe in the healthy sea air
Far away from the pollution that pervades many of our towns and cities, you will get to experience the health-enriching benefits of the sea air. As you stand on the beach, you will take in air that is fuelled by tiny droplets of seawater containing those trace elements that help you absorb more oxygen.
These can also balance your levels of serotonin, which is why you will feel your stress melt away when you’re taking in the coastal landscape.
You can get physically active
Okay, so you might be tempted to sunbathe for hours on whatever beach is near you, but you don’t have to lie on your back for the duration of your holiday. If you are residing nearby, you have the opportunity to take early morning and afternoon walks along the beach, and you might stretch your legs in the evening too.
You could take your shoes off and feel the warm sand at your feet. And if you aren’t averse to getting wet, you could stroll through the rippling waters of the sea edge. You could swim too if it was permitted. And you could play beach games with your family and friends. All of these activities are good for your overall physical health, and you will feel better because of them.
You can relive and create childhood memories
Time on the beach can bring back those childhood memories of building sandcastles, jumping in the waves, playing ball games, and having quality time with your family. These happy memories can do much to increase your serotonin levels, even if you do get a little teary-eyed because of the waves of nostalgia you feel.
And with memories in mind, you can create new ones with your children. Build sandcastles with your kids. Go hunting for crabs with them. Splash in the sea, and enjoy these other seaside activities. You’ll remember these moments forever, and so will your children when they take their own seaside holiday with their families later in life
You will have a better night’s sleep
The sea air, exercise, and feelings of relaxation will all contribute to a better night’s sleep. And because many seaside towns are quietly populated and free of traffic noise, you will have nothing to distract you when you’re settling down in bed. You will wake up to peace and quiet too, and with the beautiful views from your window, you will start the day the right way.
So, what do you think? A holiday by the sea could be just what you need. If so, look for somewhere quiet to stay, and enjoy the sun, fresh air, and beautiful scenic backdrops that await you.
