This autumn Bompas & Parr and Captain Morgan rum are joining forces to take visitors to Bullring & Grand Central on a nautical adventure to an aquatic paradise: the Lost Lagoon. Launching from 26th September until 22nd December 2019, this ticketed event will offer intrepid explorers the chance to set sail on a delicious journey of discovery.
With a plot inspired by the world’s most famous buccaneer, Lost Lagoon offers an incredible reinterpretation of Captain Henry Morgan’s world. Guests will undertake a series of cocktail-based escapades as part of an extravagant immersive theatrical production.
Budding buccaneers will navigate themselves by boat on an indoor sea to a series of islands, receiving rum-based rations and instructions along the way, so that they can make the finest rum punches.
Armed with their recipe, they will be able to find Captain Morgan’s ultimate hidden bounty – his island lair, a party palace for urban luaus set against a radical reimagining of tiki, reflecting a beach-meets-buccaneering lifestyle.
Amid a party bar of rum-based drinks, food from some of Birmingham’s finest food operators will be on offer alongside even more immersive entertainment.
The Bullring event will be twice the size of the London-based Lost Lagoon that ran earlier this year, and will feature more islands for guests to explore and plenty more open water. The event in London sold nearly 15,000 tickets, and generated a social media reach of nearly 2million.
A shipwreck appears at the Bullring & Grand Central
Ahead of this exciting new opening, a promotional pop-up bar in the form of a long-lost shipwreck will open in Birmingham city centre.
Guests will have to use their wits to decipher clues and hunt around the city as they go on a real-life treasure hunt in search of exciting prizes. Lucky winners can expect rewards varying from genuine cash prizes to discount tickets to Lost Lagoon.
Bompas & Parr and Captain Morgan have partnered with Hammerson, who owns and operates the flagship destination Bullring & Grand Central.
Harry Parr said: “Expect a mix between your best desert island fantasy with punch quests and neo-tiki party vibes. This is set to be the most lavish experiential event for 2019 and our guests will help bring a party atmosphere and a bit of sunshine toBirmingham this autumn.”
Stephanie Lacey, General Manager at Bullring & Grand Central, also commented: “The Lost Lagoon will be a truly immersive experience that is not to be missed. Birmingham will never have seen anything like this before”.
